The Canadian Journal of Unrealistic Expectations

"The Canadian Journal of Unrealistic Expectations"I was thinking I would like to start this scholarly journal: The Canadian Journal of Unrealistic Expectations. Oh the stuff we could peer review and publish. There would be no shortage of input. We have pretty high expectations of others and of our institutions. We are quick to attribute blame and use the editorial “they” in pointing out blame for dropping the ball.

I have a better idea. We could own our own journey and decide what we can do… together. You and me. (Stop thinking about ‘them’!) Forget uploading expectations to any institution. Let’s seek God ourselves. Pursue Him with all heart, mind and soul. Forget saftey and go for intimacy. Now that is really risky!

As Andrew Douglas pointed out in this quote:

Does anyone have the foggiest idea what sort of power we so blithely invoke? Or, as I suspect, does no one believe a word of it? The churches are children playing on the floor with their chemistry sets, mixing up a batch of TNT to kill a Sunday morning. It is madness to wear ladies’ straw hats and velvet hats to church; we should all be wearing crash helmets. Ushers should issue life preservers and signal flares; they should lash us to our pews. For the sleeping god may wake someday and take offense, or the waking god may draw us out to where we can never return.
